Vince Lombardi said, “Individual commitment to a group effort: that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work and a civilization work.” His words have great meaning and hold very true in almost any aspect of work and life.
If you have a group of people working individually, not communicating, but working towards accomplishing the same goal that can easilyt result in chaos. Some individuals might be overlapping on the tasks they are doing. Some tasks might get forgotten if Sally thinks Melvin is doing a certain task, and Melvin thinks Edward is doing it, but in the end, nobody has done it.Teamwork is communicating. I believe that poeple working together to accomplish a common goal will always prove higher, more quality, results than individuals not working as a cohesive unit.
Teamwork helps us accomplish results in a more timely manner. Teamwork can be fun, it also can help improve the attitude of the team. Teamwork makes for a better working environment and culture all around. Teamwork can consist of helping people through actions to get the job done, but it also can consisty of individuals lifting other team members up through help and a positive attitude. One small gesutre of help or support can go a long way for a struggling employee, or someone just having a bad day.
I really encourage team efforts on all of the areas I manage. I try to combine efforts of separate teams and make them one. At the end of the day our goal is to create Raving Fans! Every. Sing;e. Day. So in my mind it doesn’t matter what area you work in, I really try to create a culture that we are all there for one another, no single person is left on the island alone.
Like Vince said, if we individually commit to working as a group that is what will make our team work, Frame USA work, or any aspect of our lives. Teamwork makes the team work. Or in my words, teamwork makes the dream work!
