August Charity of The Month — Visionaries + Voices Double Vision XI

The relationship between Frame USA and Visionaries + Voices started over thirteen years ago. We offered up a corner of our retail store to become a studio space for these impressive artists. Subsequently, every day we have the opportunity to see these works of art created and purchase them inside of our retail store. All the profits from the purchased artists go directly to the artists.

We’re taking the partnerships one step further by opening up our monthly charity initiative to raise funds for their annual Double Vision event. Every month Frame USA partners with a different local or national charity. We give to each charity through donating time, money, exposure, and resources. For every order placed on frameusa.com $0.75 is donated to the charity of the month. The charity for August 2020 is Visionaries + Voices Double Vision XI.

About Double Vision XI

This year marks the 11th year that Visionaries + Voices have been holding an Art Auction Benefit called Double Vision. May 15th was the original date for the event. It has since been decided that as a result of COVID-19, the event is now a virtual auction to keep everyone safe.

During the past 11 years, more than 500 works of art have been auctioned off. The night includes jazz, real-life auctioneers and amazing art.

It’s such a great event to bring the Cincinnati art community as a whole together to celebrate the folks at V+V and outsider art and making it more normalized in the contemporary art world. It’s always such a fun event to see everyone at V+V there, everyone is always so excited to show the world their work or the community their work, so it’s really nice to see everyone pumped… Nothing compares to DV pumped, that’s next level… It’s a great chance for everyone to get recognition. We have artists here that are a really big part of the  Cincinnati art community in general, but folks who don’t get as much recognition or opportunities have a chance to show the Cincinnati art community what they do, which is amazing.

About V+V

Visionaries + Voices started in 2003. Their first studio space is located in Northside, a neighborhood of Cincinnati, OH. As a result of their initial success, they opened up their second location inside of our retail store. V+V provides exhibition opportunities, studio space, supplies, and support to more than 125 visual artists with disabilities. Visionaries + Voices studios create a world in which artists with disabilities have the opportunity to produce and share works of art. Above all, these artists have countless opportunities to learn, develop professionally, and collaborate with community members. Their mission is to provide creative, professional, and educational opportunities to all.

Over 140 local artists attend the V+V studios. Artists use paint, clay, metal, fabric, colored pencils, ink, paper mache, collage, photography, assemblage, glass, wood, and digital materials. A range of styles of art are created and exhibited, including: wall-size hand-drawn maps of Cincinnati, 3-D portrait dolls made of fabric and found objects, Russian-American New World art, paintings with colorful motifs of fish, birds, and giraffes, ink drawings representing the plots of entire feature films, and imaginative works in clay. Artists support each other in an environment that encourages self-expression and creative growth.
