Every month Frame USA partners with a different local or national charity. We give to each charity through donating time, money, exposure, and resources. For every order places on frameusa.com $0.75 is donated to the charity of the month. For the February 2019 charity, we chose to partner with the National Fragile X Foundation.
Fragile X Syndrome is “a genetic condition that causes intellectual disability, behavioral and learning challenges, and various physical characteristics.” There are several types of Fragile X conditions that range in severity and symptoms. These conditions are the most common known genetic cause of intellectual disabilities.
The National Fragile X Foundation focuses on promoting awareness and research for treatments for this condition. They have programs to encourage advocacy for this disorder, including their Sibling & Self-Advocate Program. This program allows children with Fragile X Syndrome and their siblings to connect with others and build relationships. For adults and parents affected by Fragile X, they offer a large community support network with numerous ways to get involved.
The National Fragile X Foundation runs Fragile X clinics throughout the USA. These clinics offer comprehensive evaluations and recommended treatments. They also offer, or can refer you to, genetic counseling, behavior therapy, speech therapy, and more. These clinics work with other institutions to improve research and understandings of Fragile X Syndrome. The treatment guidelines for Fragile X disorders can be found on their website here.
