Knotooshabby

My business is called Knotooshabby, and I make personalized items for homes and weddings. My subtitle/tagline is “For the little things in your big moments” because I primarily focus on making those small detail items that commemorate, or add to, the biggest events in people’s lives. My products celebrate new babies, homes, engagements, and weddings. I sell picture frames, Christmas ornaments, signs, wedding cake toppers, and wedding invitations.

When you land on my shop right now all of my Christmas tree ornaments are featured for the holiday season, but Frame USA is my supply source for my Picture Frame section. I order “Decorate-It” unfinished picture frames and I  personalize them by hand. Frame USA picture frames are the only items I order pre-made, all other wood products in my shop I make myself (my husband helps too) using woodworking tools I’ve inherited from my Father and Grandfather.

This Etsy shop is my full-time endeavor, outside of managing our household and taking care of our puppy! I can be found on Instagram and Pinterest under my name @lyssalynea where I share content from this business and coming in 2019 I’ll be adding a second Etsy shop and a blog that will focus on my fine art Paintings and Drawings.

Valentine’s Day – Tuesday, February 14

15

Valentine’s Day (sometimes known as Saint Valentine’s Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine) is a holiday celebrated every year on February 14th. Valentine’s Day began as a religious feast honoring early saints named Valentinus. This day is regarded as a pretty important cultural and commercial celebration around the world but has yet to be made a public holiday in any country.

February 14th first became connected with the idea of love in the 14th century. Then later on in 18th century in England, the day gradually evolved into one where people show their love for each other through flowers, greeting cards and candy.

The first mass produced Valentines in the United States were manufactured and distributed in 1847 by Esther Howland. Back in this time complex and fancy Valentines cards were imported from Europe and many Americans couldn’t afford them.

Nowadays around 190 million Valentine’s Day cards are sent each year with half of those valentines being given to family members. If you add the valentine-exchange cards made in most schools the number goes up to 1 billion with teachers being the number one recipient. In the United States alone the average valentine’s spending has increased every year, from $108 a person in 2010 to $131 in 2013. Valentine’s Day is now considered by some to be a Hallmark holiday due to its commercialization.

Traditions During The Holidays from Frame USA Employees

Traditions for the Holidays

Today is the last full day for Frame USA Employees before the New Year. Frame USA Employees reflect on their favorite Holiday Traditions. Here is what a few of our hardworking employee have to say:

  Holiday Traditions 3

“On Christmas Eve, my middle daughter Emily and I, take our convertible car with our dog cookie. No matter how cold it is we put the top down and drive through the neighborhoods for an hour or so. We stop at Starbucks to stay warm and stop to get our dog a treat or Christmas present.   We wear our Christmas hats and the entire drive we wave at everyone passing by and tell them Merry Christmas!  We always drive through the Walmart (which is always busy with people) and make sure to tell them all best wishes to all the people a little too stressed out. It is without a doubt one of my favorite days and things to do in the whole world!”

-Daniel P. Regenold, CEO Frame USA, Inc.

“My favorite tradition is spending quality time with all of my family!

-Kelly Ackerman, Marketing Director

“We open presents”

-Brandon Swinehart, In-House Sales Representative

“Every year we go up to my wife’s Aunt’s house in New Philadelphia Ohio and all the family comes over and the kids all get presents and we watch them open those, then we eat, and then we play bingo and there are small prize bags filled with just little stuff that you can get at Walgreens (last year I got Cocoa butter in mine). It’s fun. And we usually watch “A Christmas Story” while we’re there… We also use mini marshmallows for the bingo chips and we throw a lot of them at each other.

-Kelley Kombrinck, Customer Service Representative

“I am the youngest of four and even though I’m 22 I am still always one of the first people awake on Christmas morning. It is the only day that I’m perfectly okay with getting up early and no matter how old I get I think this will be my role in my family!”

-Brooke Skyllingstad, SEO Coordinator

“I will stay up late and sleep the entire day”

-Andy Scarth, Art Director

“We spend the day with my husband’s family.  He is the youngest of seven children.  His mother is 82 and still very much involved.  Dozens and dozens of people come to our gathering with potluck dishes, and four generations of Hoctors gather under one roof for the day.  It is always a very special day.”

-Leslie J. Hoctor, Buyer/Inventory Manager

“In our family we have the 45 minute rule for sitting and eating Holiday dinners, no one is allowed to leave the table until 45minutes has past. Reason is we realized that we would be cooking all day, and it would only take our boy’s 15 minutes at most to eat.  They are of course grown now. But we still ask them to follow this rule.”

-Jill Gugel, Administrative Assistant

We make santa cookies using my great grandma’s butter cookie recipe, and hand decorate them every year.”

-Shannon Powell, Retail Associate

Holiday Shipping 2014

Holiday Shipping Schedule for 2014

As Christmas quickly approaches everyone is scrambling to get their gifts ordered and purchased so that they arrive on time. Buying presents online, although convenient, is a risky business to get into for Christmas, you never know if you’re going to get the gifts on time. Frame USA is all about life hacks (in case you don’t already know, check out part 1 & part 2 of our life hacks) so we’re going to make things extremely simple for you.

If you need Picture Frames or mats by Christmas, no matter where you are shipping them throughout the United States, your order needs to be placed by December 14th.

December is the only time where our standard 5-7 production time doesn’t apply. You will notice when you place your order and recieve the confirmation that it will say that it will arrive on or by Christmas Eve. We guarantee you with 100% certainty that you will receive your picture frame and mat orders on time if you order by the 14th.

If you would like to know the exact dates that we are shipping out orders, our full holiday shipping schedule can be viewed on our website here.

Since we have made your lives easier, we ask you to consider paying it forward this holiday season and making the life of someone else easier. How can you do this? Consider donating $1 to our charity initiative, Fill The Truck, when you place your orders this holiday season. That $1 will be going to 4 different charities that support those in need year round. $1 could buy you a plethora of items on a fast food restaurant’s dollar menu, but instead of spending it on that, give it to Fill The Truck so that we may help those that are in need!

Happy Shopping—May the odds be ever in your favor! (they will be when you shop with us!)

Frame USA Celebrates Halloween

Halloween at Frame USA

Frame USA loves to have fun, we host several events for our employees however we rarely share them with our customers. Since today is all about being someone you’re not we thought we would let our customers in on the fun! Today’s festivities included: a pumpkin decorating/carving contest, a costume contest, and festive snacks. All of today’s winners for both the pumpkin decorating/carving contest as well as the costume contest will be posted on our instagram, so check it out!

It’s A Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!

We posted early last week a sneak peak picture on our instagram of all the pumpkins that we got to give out to our employees. Two employees spent hours weighing pumpkins to find the perfect selection, and boy did our employees deliver with their creations! We have some hidden talent for pumpkin decorating/carving in our midst. Our CEO gave us a challenge that if 50% of all of our employees decorate a pumpkin Frame USA will donate an additional $250 to our November Charity of the Month The Freestore FoodBank. Our employees delivered and we had 35 pumpkins that were brought in decorated/carved. Our employees then voted on what their 3 favorite pumpkins were. We had 4 winners for this competition, with a tie for second place. We would absolutely love to hear what our customers think are the best pumpkins and to see some of the creations you and your family came up with!

Trick or Treat!

Not only did we have fun with pumpkins and costumes, we are all now in a sugar coma! We had festive goodies during one of the breaks that included apple cider, chips, cookies and cupcakes. Some of our office workers planned a potluck and brought in delicious foods to enjoy for lunch. 20141031_143151   20141031_120740 20141031_141944

One of our employees is getting married soon, so her manager decided to be sneaky and plan a bit of a bridal shower for her. Safe to say she was completely surprised and got some great gifts off her wedding. Congratulations Beth, we all wish you and your soon to be husband a lifetime of happiness!
