#AUSTRALIAFIRES

One thing that is currently all over the news, and social media platforms are the Fires in Australia. Even though it is currently the season of bushfires in Australia, this is unlike any bushfire season that Australia and especially the United States have ever experienced. The damage that is occurring due to these fires is catastrophic; more than 22 people have lost their lives; homes, wildlife, ecosystems and land have been destroyed.  There are whole entire species are suspected to be extinct due to these fires. They have been burning since September 2019 and have scorched over 25 million acres — an area larger than the state of Virginia. The season of wild fires generally lasts through March and as fires continue to spread the likelihood that they stop any time soon is nonexistent.

NSW Rural Fire Service

Firefighters all across the globe have been working nonstop alongside their Australian counterparts to help fight the blaze. Celebrities, influencers and even crafting communities have all come together to donate what they can. We want to join the fight by making NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) our January Charity of the month.

NSW Rural Fire Service

According to their website, NSW RFS is the lead combat agency for bush fires in New South Wales. NSW is Australia’s oldest, largest and most cosmopolitan state. What makes this organization so unique and one of the biggest reasons we chose them for January is that they are widely acknowledged as the largest Volunteer fire service in the world. You read that correctly the people on the front lines fighting a blaze that if happened in the United States would destroy over half of the states, are volunteers. They are choosing to risk their life fighting the blaze without any monetary gain.

We are taking our charity reach international to help with the devastation that Australia is facing. During the rest of January, for every order placed on frameusa.com $0.75 will be donated to NSW Rural Fire Service.

Recap: 10th Annual Fill The Truck Charity Initiative.

10th Annual FillTheTruck.Org Charity Initiative Results

During the month of December we take on a charity of initiative called FillTheTruck.org. In 2010, Dan Regenold, CEO of Frame USA, started this initiative. Every year since it has continued to get bigger and bigger. For more information on the history of this initiative check out our recent blog post here. This past December marked the 10th annual FillTheTruck.Org. Throughout the month, our employees as well as outside volunteers and businesses came together to help bag and box items. These items went to 7 different charity organizations around Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. Ultimately, a Charity initiative as big as this one couldn’t have been possible without this help.  We truly appreciate each and everyone of our customers who chose to donate both online and in our retail store during the month of December. No photo description available.

2019 Totals

We counted up all of the items inside the boxes and have our final numbers.  In a total of 29 days the following was collected:

  • 52,013 items
  • 756 boxes
  • 44 skids

On December 23rd the first truck of items was delivered to The Healing Center.

Our Lovely Delivery Crew!

In conclusion, we want to thank everyone who contributed to our charity initiative to make it a record breaking year.

History

In December of 2010, Dan Regenold, CEO of Frame USA, had a vision; to fill an entire 53′ foot semi-truck for a local charity. He knew this would be his biggest charitable giving project and he would need a team to assist him. By the end of December, Frame USA ended up needing a second truck because they over filled their semi!

The truck didn’t stop there. To Dan, the truck represented hope, life and a second chance for people within his community who were down on their luck. Every December, Dan continues his vision. This year, Fill The Truck is celebrating 10 years of giving back to the community.

Last year we collected a total of 51,436 items that went to seven different organizations around Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

This year our goal is to get 60,000 items and we are calling on your help.

The money that we collect from our website will go towards purchasing basic things such as toilet paper, winter clothing and bedding. Things that a lot of us take for granted. These things can have an immense impact to those that are in need. If you are interested in donating an item you can add a donation when you place an order online at Frameusa.com or you can purchase on fillthetruck.org

In conclusion for the entire month of December 2019, $0.75 of every order on frameusa.com is donated to Fill The Truck. In addition to this contribution, our new website now offers the ability to increase your donation on the checkout page.

History

Danny Thomas

As a young man, Danny Thomas had a simple goal: to entertain people and be successful enough at it to provide for his wife and family. But work wasn’t easy to come by. Unsure of his life’s direction, a young Danny Thomas sought guidance from St. Jude Thaddeus, the patron saint of hopeless causes. If the saint would point to the path he should take, Danny vowed to build a shrine in his name. Success followed Danny’s plea and soon after, the legendary entertainer set about fulfilling his vow to St. Jude. The result was St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Danny began raising money for his vision in the early 1950s. He set out across the U.S. to speak about his dream to build St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to any group that would listen asking for support.

“No child should die in the dawn of life”

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital opened its doors on February 4, 1962, based on Danny’s dream that “no child should die in the dawn of life.” Since then, we’ve made incredible strides in childhood cancer research. We’ve helped improve the survival rate of childhood cancer from 20% to 80%. And ALL, the disease with a virtual death sentence in 1962, now has a survival rate of 94 percent.

Today St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is the world leader in developing new, improved treatments for children with cancer. Whenever a breakthrough happens during their clinical trials and research they share them so that doctors and scientists can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.

The fundamentals of St. Jude remain the same today as when they opened their doors families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all they should worry about is helping their child live.

The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of their founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family’s ability to pay.

As of today the treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago.

In conclusion for the entire month of October 2019, $0.75 of every order on frameusa.com is donated to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In addition to this contribution, our new website now offers the ability to increase your donation on the checkout page.

In August of 2010, the world lost a wonderful young man named, Andy Caress, to Melanoma. During his fight, Andy fought to spread awareness and educate people on the dangers of melanoma. After his passing, his loved ones continued this fight by forming The Andy Caress Melanoma Foundation.

If you’ve been customers with us for some time now you probably recognize that name. The Caress Family is local to Cincinnati and are family friends with our CEO, Dan Regenold’s family. We’ve written about them before, every year in fact since we started this blog, however this is the first time that we have referred to the charity as Melanoma Know More.

Here’s why, in January, the foundation joined forces with Melanoma Know More. The union resulted in a single nonprofit organization in Cincinnati focused on melanoma awareness, outreach and research. As a result, their total combined resources make a stronger and more effective organization. Most importantly, they continue to move towards one common goal: wipe melanoma off the face of the planet.
